Greetings from William and Grace in Africa

Dear Friends and Supporters,

We returned on Sunday from a visit to the Kenyan coast with Dr Joffre Ouma, director of the Step Out in Faith Bible course and his wife Pauline. Pauline has recovered from the medical condition mentioned in previous newsletters, which was a great answer to prayer.

Kenya's coastal areas have in the past been very popular with tourists, but political unrest has driven the tourists away. We were the only visitors in the Methodist Guest House in Malindi. While in Malindi we presented certificates to 36 graduates of the Step Out in Faith Bible course. Some of the graduates were Moslems, and we spent a day teaching and counselling with them.

We then travelled south to Kwale. The route to Kwale has been extensively damaged by flooding, so the trip was exceptionally bone-shaking and uncomfortable. We presented certificates to 26 graduates of the Step Out in Faith course. Around half of them were from Moslem backgrounds, and many had remarkable testimonies. Several were unable to read, so they had completed the course requirements orally.

William completed the return journey from Kwale to Mombasa on the back of a motorbike, and says that it will take several weeks for his coccyx to recover! The trains between Nairobi and Mombasa are now booked out several weeks in advance, so we completed the journey back to Nairobi by bus.

Our granddaughter Mindy achieved good results in her primary school exams and hopes to attend a selective entry girls' secondary school. However, the cost of attending that school is around $2,000 per year, and Mindy would need a sponsor to cover that cost for each of the next 4 years.

Each year at Christmas time we raise funds to provide Christmas food parcels to needy people. Each parcel costs around $20. Please let us know if you can assist.

The photos below show the Malindi graduates of the Step Out in Faith Bible course, and us during the graduation ceremony at Kwale.

Please pray with us for:
  • Safety during the Christmas season
  • Resources to bless our needy neighbours at Christmas time
  • A sponsor for Mindy's schooling
  • That we will honour Jesus through our Christmas celebrations
We are thankful to God for:
  • Providing safety during our visit to the coast
  • The many Moslems we met who are turning to Christ
  • Pauline's full recovery from her serious illness
