News from the Corner

Greetings from William & Grace at Dagoretti Corner.

Dear <<First Name>>,

Three days ago our friend Nahshon, who frequently acted as a driver for us around Nairobi, was killed by passengers in his taxi. He was not robbed, and the motive for the murder is not known. He leaves a widow, two children and several other dependants.

Elyon High School has resumed after a mid-term break. Over the break our principal attended a seminar for heads of private schools. The teacher Masese, mentioned in our last newsletter, has recovered after being treated for meningitis. A team from our school was recently invited to compete in a Science Symposium organised by Oxford University Press. They came second in Biology and fourth in Physics and Chemistry, winning textbooks and academic materials.

The results of last year's secondary school exams are due out tomorrow, eagerly awaited by many former students.

Our soccer teams continue to do well in inter-school competition, with our boys' team defeating Kibera Glory 5-0 and our girls' team defeating Riella Education Centre 2-1. They are due to compete in the next round on 3rd March.

The Rev Meshach Chitiavi will be taking over the running of the Bible training program for slum pastors, now that Rob Corners has returned to Australia. We expect that the program will make a significant difference in the ministry of 20 to 25 slum pastors.

Please Pray For:

  • Students who are awaiting their exam results
  • Peace during the current extended election campaigning season
  • Nahshon's family as they deal with their grief and the financial consequences
  • Grace, as she visits her parents, and her mother who is unwell
  • The Bible training program for slum pastors
